Course Content
This course focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of cryptanalyzing modern stream ciphers. Topics include the structure and security properties of contemporary stream ciphers. such as those submitted to the eSTREAM and NIST LWC projects. Students study cryptanalytic techniques including correlation attacks. algebraic attacks. distinguishing attacks. time-memory trade-offs. and fault analysis. Emphasis is placed on the design weaknesses of the ciphers like Trivium. Grain. HC-128. and ASCON. and how cryptanalytic insights inform secure cipher construction. The course includes analysis of current literature. implementation case studies. and evaluation of cryptographic resilience against state-of-the-art attacks.
