Course Content

General principles. Shannon’s Theory: Perfect Secrecy, Entropy, Huffman Encoding and Entropy, Properties of Entropy, Spurious Keys and Unicity Distance. Descriptions of DES and AES Semi-Finalist Algorithms: Rijndael, Mars, Serpent, Twofish and RC6. Boolean Functions, Correlations and Walsh Transforms. Cryptographic Criteria: Propagation Characteristics, Nonlinearity and Resiliency, Generalization to S-Boxes. Differential Cryptanalysis and Linear Cryptanalysis, NIST Tests for the Evaluation of the Algorithms and Performance Comparison of AES Semi-Finalist Algorithms.
