Course Content

This course presents an introduction to the historical and cultural contexts and layers of Turkey, especiaaly Ankara. Students will explore various historical and cultural contexts and layers. Each week there will be eight scheduled hours in the course in that time students will be able to learn a conceptual perspective towards works of arts through historical and cultural layers with the instructor. In addition, this time will be used to ensure that the differences in works of art are observed in the historical transition process. Moreover, students will study the developmental processes of Ankara and its surroundings, from the early civilizations to the ancient civilizations and imperial ages through art practices. Also, students gain general knowledge of history of art and cultural layers while learning how to use their methods and techniques. Finally, the most important point in this course is that students will learn the special places such as Roman bath, Julian column, castle, ancient theatre, cardo maximus etc. Please note that the course content is subject to change based on the needs of the class.
