Course Content
Provides a general overview of the political. socio-economic. religious and cultural history of medieval Islamic Anatolia. in interaction with neighboring powers (Ayyubids. Mamluks. Khwarazmshah. Georgian Kingdom and Latin Crusader States).
Focuses on the Anatolian Seljuks and the socio-political and economic developments during the period of Mongol hegemony.
Surveys the secondary literature. looking at the historiographical debates which have shaped the field from Köprülü?s seminal works to the latest cutting edge studies in the field.
