Course Content

Timber is a very versatile building material. This course intends to introduce its advantages and timber building technologies such as traditional timber frame methods of Anatolia and contemporary applications in the western world. Timber frame components include foundations and wall, floor, roof framing as well as covering, cladding and insulation materials. Course concludes with the performance to timber buildings in thermal and moisture insulation; structural and earthquake requirements; durability against fire, fungi and insect attack.
