Course Content

The main objective of this course is to situate research on authoritarianism as a field within the Social Sciences and Area Studies; identify the main theoretical approaches and methodologies to the study of authoritarianism and their limitations; identify the particular characteristics of authoritarian regimes in different world regions, sub-types of authoritarian regimes and their unifying elements; and address the challenges of designing and conducting research in authoritarian contexts.
