Course Content

This course attempts to help students to critically examine the gender bias of development in the underdeveloped world where incorporation into cash economy has systematically created asymmetric relations. Focus is on the differential access, of men and women to new technology, knowledge and opportunities, and identification of the mechanisms through which womens work becomes devalued and how women are driven back into the domestic sphere and hence domesticated.
