General formulation of the hydrodynamic stability problems. Rayleigh and Orr-Sommerfeld equations. Vortex instability. Crow and Widnall instabilities. Vortex dynamics, vortex models and vortex interactions. Contour dynamics. Statistical theories of turbulence. Closure problem. Theories before and after Kolmogorov. Intermittency models and fractals.
