Concept of crude oil as raw material in petro-chemical industry. Testing of crudes. Separation of petroleum into fractions by physical methods. Thermal cracking and catalytic cracking of petroleum crudes. Classification of petroleum chemicals according to source: C1,C2, C3, C4, C5 and higher hydrocarbon derivatives.
