Course Content

Develops qualitative inquiry skills using digital tools, particularly a Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDAS) Package. Focuses on (i) collecting qualitative data, (ii) organizing externally-collected and internally-created data, (iii) analyzing different types of data (i.e., text, image, audio, video, website, twits, and spreadsheet), and (iv) visualizing data, analyzing through visuals, and visualizing analytical relationships (i.e results) through a digital tool. Provides graduate students a theoretical lens on the methodological and ethical issues that research presumes when using digital tools for a particular methodology (i.e., grounded theory, mixed method, etc.) and a practical lens on the ways in which digital tools are used in qualitative inquiry.
