Course Content

Developing an understanding of the mathematical concepts involving basic geometric concepts, geometric figures and properties, geometric solids and properties, similarity and congruency, transformational geometry, visualization, location, patterns, tessellations, and related theories.
Developing an understanding of the meaning of measurement; standard and nonstandard units, teaching time, length, area, volume, angle, money (e.g., preparing lesson content, using appropriate teaching techniques and materials); the role of estimation in measurement.
Developing an understanding of student knowledge in relation to these topics (understanding and interpreting student thinking in relation to these concepts; understanding student difficulties, errors, misconceptions and the reasons behind them). Integrating these topics with real life and other courses. Engaging in activities related to those concepts.
