Course Content

Complex systems; characteristics of complex systems; components and processes that occur on different levels of organization; coherence among system levels; interactions and interdependence among systems; dynamic and cyclic nature of complex systems; hierarchy, homeostasis, and dynamism; earth as a complex system. Difficulties in teaching and learning complex systems in science; approaches to systems thinking skills and integration to science education.
