Course Content

Algebraic thinking, the importance of algebraic thinking in teaching mathematics; developing an understanding of concepts involving generalized arithmetic, functional thinking, variable, equality, expressions, equations, identities, and inequalities; different representations in teaching algebra.
Basic concepts about probability, types of probability, probability simulations and probability distributions; data collection, organizing, representing and analyzing data; the concept of probability distribution, frequency distribution, teaching measures of central tendency and measures of variability. Preparing lesson content, using appropriate teaching techniques and materials; understanding and interpreting student thinking in relation to these concepts; understanding student difficulties, errors, misconceptions and the reasons behind them; the relation of these topics with real life and other courses.
