Course Content

This graduate course aims to provide students with a critical historical understanding of state-money/finance relations since the 16th century with a particular focus on the post 1980 developments. After a methodological and theoretical analysis on money and finance and the constitutive role played by social relations and states on monetary and financial developments, the course will problematise the issue in relation to changing global hegemonic powers, international monetary orders, international organization of credit, and global financial crises.
