Course Content

History of sailing, upwind and downwind sailing, Newtons theory of fluid resistance, lift and drag phenomena, sail shapes, mesaurement of hull smoothness, wind turbulence, water waves, structure of waves, use of optics in the connection between waters appearance and wind. Examples to illustrate the concepts and practice. Meteorology, VHF radiotelephony, STCWs and yacht master rules.
