Intrinsic and extrinsic factors that govern the making of buildings: what/who does which, where, when, why and how. The substance of buildings: materials, products and components; why we have/need them and what they are; what they look like and why; where they come from and where they go; what we can and cannot do to/with them and what they can cannot do to/for us.
