Course Content

Basics of Maxwell s Equations, Polarization, Photons and the Density of States, Crystals, Lattices, Lattice Vibrations and Phonons, and nonlinear optical materials. Interband obsorption, Free electrons, Plasmons, Excitons, Luminescence centers, Scattering and absorption by phonons.
Photoluminescence, Time Resolved Spectroscopy, Pump-probe measurments, Spectroscopic ellipsometry.
