Course Content

This introductory course. open to both undergraduate and graduate students. explores the design and function of synthetic gene circuits. The course begins with foundational concepts. including the definition of gene circuits. principles of gene expression regulation. and feedback mechanisms. Students will examine natural examples such as the lac operon. alongside synthetic constructs such as genetic toggles. oscillators. and logic gates engineered for applications like targeted cancer cell elimination. The course will also address key challenges in synthetic biology. including predictability. stability. standardization. and scalability.
