Course Content
This course explores the representation of different genres and periods of Asian cultures through selected literary and cinematic works by writers and directors from different regions in modern era context. We will study the notions of the emerging power of the economy and popular culture from various perspectives. The aim is to make students develope a better understanding of the similarities and differences on historical, social, political, and economics major issues in Asian cultures, thus gain a critical appreciation of the complex contemporary development of this region.
