Course Content

This course aims to introduce and familiarize students with East Asian canonical texts and their systems of thought. While Western systems of thought and philosophy is abundantly known and instructed by students and scholars, their East-Asian counterpart is mostly amiss. To fill this gap, the course offers a direct reading of the main texts of the philosophers as well as secondary reading of the systems of thought. The students are expected to familiarize with the ancient philosophical traditions of Confucianism,Military Thought, Buddhims , Legalism, Mohism, Daoism, Shintoism by reading and discussing their concepts and statements from the primary sources.
