Course Content

The course interrogates feminist theories and vocabularies from the perspectives of the non-West, often illustrated by the Indian experience. It builds upon understandings of colonialism, the nationalist imaginery and feminist critiques of development paradigms. Along with the discussion of rights based discourses and those on the Uniform Civil Code, as well as challenges to Middle Class Womens Movements that have emerged from below, the course interrogates concepts such as agency, feminist perspectives on globalization and Islamic Feminism.
