Course Content
While there remains a range of competing understanding of civil society, dominant approach to this political concept is gender-biased and neo-liberal in character. This course provides a critical approach to the dominant character of civil society by focusing on feminist reactions/critique. Overall the main aim of this course is to examine the relationships between gender and civil society. Furthermore, this course discusses the ways in which feminists challenge and show resistance to masculine and neoliberal civil society and reconstruct the arena of civil society through drawing attention to the neglected experiences.
