Course Content
This course examines architecture and the built environment as historical agents of spatial (injustice. Through historical case studies?from housing and infrastructure to borders, camps, prisons, and extractive landscapes?the course traces how architecture has shaped and mediated relations of dispossession, mobility, and ecological transformation. The course foregrounds land, buildings, and infrastructures as active agents in processes of racialization, colonial expansion, mobility control, and environmental change. Students will develop critical tools for the historical analysis of architecture by examining struggles over land, labor, habitation, and the more-than-human world.
