Introduction to the concept of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in Mining Engineering; History and development of LCA methodologies and standards; Stages of LCA analysis: goal definition. scoping. inventory assessment. impact analysis. improvement analysis. reporting; Sources of data. boundary selection and uncertainty; Relationship between LCA. mining design for environment and other environmental management tools.Prerequisites: ES 303.
