Course Content
Structure of oceans and oceanic areas, general characteristics of marine hazards, basic wave mechanics, classification of long ocean waves, sources and characteristics of marine hazards, swell, seiche, free oscillations, resonance, marine hazards related to large scale atmospheric disturbances, freak waves, global and historical tsunamis, local and tele tsunamis, characteristics and classification of tsunami generation mechanics, propagation and coastal amplifications, shallow water and boundary effects, inundation, runup and implication of tsunami waves on coastal structures, intensity and magnitude concept, paleo and post marine hazard surveys, modeling techniques, assessment, mapping, simulation, animation, visualization, monitoring, detection, warning, awareness, participation and mitigation of marine hazards and tsunamis.
