Course Content
Exploring the role of technology in contemporary school mathematics teaching and learning. Understanding the content (what). methods (how). and materials (tools) necessary to teach mathematics in a technologically oriented society. Examining and becoming familiar with various technologies (dynamic geometry/mathematics environments.spreadsheets. graphing software. computer algebra systems. Web-based/ virtual manipulatives. graphing calculator and/or handlheld devices. etc.) and technology-based lesson materials. Learning about major research issues in teaching mathematics within a technology assisted/oriented environment. Constructing/building a technology assisted learning environment that supports the teaching and learning of meaningful mathematics.
