Introduction to sub-disciplines of Linguistics; basic concepts in morphology (the lexicon. free and bound morphemes. inflection vs. derivation. morphological typology of languages. morphological analysis. hierarchical structure of words. morphology-phonology interface); basic concepts in syntax (strucural relations: dominance. motherhood. daughterhood. sisterhood; phrase structure: head. complement. adjunct; x-bar schema; complements vs. adjuncts; syntactic typology of languages); basic concepts in sentential semantics (compositionality. truth conditions. paraphrase. entailment. contradiction. presupposition).
