Genres and literary/artistic movements from Old English to 17th century; basic strategies for critically reading and interpreting poetry. fiction. and drama; the basics of literary analysis and critical methods associated with various literary concerns; understanding. appreciating. and applying knowledge of generic elements and literary/historical characteristics while reading works of literature; classroom discussions on literary analysis and fundamentals of literary processes; focused writing assignments expecting students to use their analytical and interpretative skills.
