GIA309 POLITICS OF DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION AND FOREIGN AID
Course Content
This course explores the politics of international development cooperation and foreign aid. The course is composed of two main parts. The first part looks at the historical experience of development and underdevelopment and introduces theoretical approaches to these issues. Building on this historical and theoretical background,the second part deals with foreign aid and introduces and analyses a wide range of issues that are central to the politics of foreign aid. Drawing on the historical record and more recent case studies, students will develop an in depth understanding of the main actors, mechanisms, and dilemmas in the contemporary aid system.
