Course Content
This course Global Economy and Artificial Intelligence on offers a rich and comprehensive exploration of how power is being made and remade in the 21 st century, weaving together theoretical frameworks and the empirical evidence currently driving debate. A wide array of subjects and interrelationships are covered, from the workings of the real economy and the financial hegemony achieved by the big banks, to the major technological innovations of the century and the quantification of their disruptive impact, to the treatment of artifýcial Ýntelligence as both a destroyer and a creator of economic value. The course concludes with the contest between the United States and China for global hegemony, in which economic, financial, and technological power converge. Throughout, students are asked to read economic data critically and to consider who gains, who loses, and who sets the terms of the emerging order.
