Course Content

This course introduces timber building technologies; material properties; advantages and disadvantages of traditional timber frame methods of Anatolia and contemporary applications in the western world. Building technologies include different framing types used in floor, wall and roof. The performance of timber buildings in thermal insulation and moisture control; structural and earthquake-safety; durability against fire, fungi and insect attack are the primary subjects of the course.
